Greetings from the seat at KZYX that controls that board that mixes the Sonic Blender. Today's show is centered around the roots of rock, country and what falls in between the two. Starting with the past, Janis Martin "The Female Elvis" and the rockabilly filly Rosie Flores who were featured this past weekend at Viva Las Vegas, the worlds largest rockabilly festival. Yours truly was immersed in this particular roots world for three glorious days capped off by a performance (or appearance?) by Little Richard himself. Celebrating his 80th birthday, Little Richard hasn't walked in three years so he was wheeled out to the piano on a golden throne. And the golden throne wasn't all - seems LR has embraced the Lord so songs like "Tuti Fruti" and "Lucille" were bookended by several "God Bless You All" and "Find the Lords".... Well, back to today's selections! You may be able to trace the influences between those roots artists of the 1950's and 60's you'll be hearing and today's latest releases by Dwight Yoakam, Joni Harms and The Lonely Wild. Try to find the clues while singing along to Ricky Nelson's "Hello Mary Lou". Until April 16th!  Katharine
