We know water is an important issue this year in California, and here at KZYX, we're working to bring you the best coverage  on this issue. First, tonight at 6pm and tomorrow during MORNING EDITION Congressmember Huffman weighs in on issues concerning Lake Mendocino. Then on THURSDAY MORNING'S MENDOCINO CURRENTS we have the first installment of a 2 part series on local water concerns. This week Valerie Kim speaks with Sean White, general manager of the Russian River Flood Control District, about the history of the reservoir, the present day situation regarding who decides how much water is stored and how much is released, and the future of water storage in Lake Mendocino and what it could mean for the county's infrastructure; agricultural, economic, and otherwise.

In two weeks we'll move upstream to examine the connection between the Eel and Russian River watersheds, and listen to competing visions about the place of dams in our communities. Pt 2 will be produced and hosted  by WOMEN'S VOICES regular Sarah Reith. MENDOCINO CURRENTS, on KZYX every other Thursday at 9am, is a production of the KZYX News Department.
