Here is the latest from the National Weather Service in Eureka:

Rains will continue overnight. A low is rapidly developing offshore. Toward daybreak the winds will pick up again, mostly at the higher elevations above the Cape.

There is a WIND ADVISORY in effect until 9am Thursday morning. South wind gusts tonight are up to 35 mph, and tomorrow morning early may end up as high at 55 mph.

There is a FLOOD WARNING for the Navarro River at Navarro from tomorrow morning to Friday afternoon. At 1:15 this afternoon it was under 5'. Flood stage is at 23'.At 34' significant flooding and damage of houses and property is expected approximately 1 mile east of Highway 1. Complete closure of Highway 128 in expected. This crest compares to a previous crest of 35.4' on January 24th, 1970.

There is also a FLOOD WATCH in place until tomorrow evening. Highway 1 at the Garcia River and Hwy 175 near Hopland are locations for possible flooding.

There is a HIGH SURF ADVISORY in place until tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 10am. Waves will be breaking 19-24' along west facing beaches. This will lead to increased wave run-up on beaches with waves topping and washing over large rocks and jetties. These large waves can be erratic and unpredictable. Use extra caution near the surf zone as these large waves will be capable of sweeping people into the frigid and turbulent ocean waters. Mariners traversing the bar are urged to exercize extreme caution or stay in port until the threat subsides.
