Since the Sonic Blender took over the Tuesday 2-4pm slot on KZYX, it has steadily gained listeners interested in a new, yet at the same time very old, format to public radio, "Americana". Sometimes referred to for the extremes of folk, singer/songwriter, country rock, or alternative, Americana is American-made music which arises out of the roots of American music: blues, rock and folk. Including artists as diverse as Emmylou Harris and Rosanne Cash, to Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, to The Civil Wars and The Ditty Bops, Americana cuts a wide swath through the music we have come to spin here at Sonic Blender. And being a 'blender', means a spinning a cut from The Ventures or Nick Cave or even The Fray can happen!
